Editorial standards
Guides, comparisons and state lien law pages on this site are published by the Stitch Storage Team. This page explains how we research, write, review and update them.

Who writes the content
Every page is bylined “Stitch Storage Team”. We do not use invented author names or credentials. We are a software company, not a law firm, an accounting firm or an appraisal firm, and we do not present ourselves as one.
How we research
- We start from primary sources: statutes, official government and court sites, industry associations and the vendors’ own published documentation.
- Every page lists its sources at the end, with the date we last accessed each one.
- We do not invent statistics, studies, quotes or customer stories. A number is either cited or marked as a worked example.
- We do not publish testimonials, review scores or customer counts we cannot show.
How we review
- Each page answers the question in the first two sentences, then adds the detail an owner needs to act.
- Facts, figures, links and dates are checked against the listed sources before publishing.
- We read each page against our style rules: plain English, short sentences, no hype.
- If we cannot confirm a fact well enough, the page stays unpublished until we can.
Legal topics
Lien, auction, late fee and lease pages are general information, not legal advice. State laws change and courts read them differently. State pages show a “last reviewed” date, and we re-review them every quarter. Always review your notices and your process with an attorney licensed in your state.
How we write about other software
- We use other companies’ names only to identify them.
- Every claim about a competitor is factual, sourced and dated, for example “as of October 2026”.
- If a price is not published by the vendor, we say so and suggest asking for a written quote. We do not repeat unverified third-party prices as fact.
- We say where other tools are strong. We do not disparage them.
- We check comparison pages every month.
- Stitch is our product. When we recommend it, we say what it is best for, and we say when it is not the right fit.
Dates and updates
Each page shows when it was last updated. We change that date only when the content changes. Substantial changes are made to the page itself rather than hidden in a note.
Corrections
If you find a mistake, email hello@stitchstorage.com with the page address and what is wrong. We will check it against the sources and fix it quickly.
