If you want a Cubby alternative, compare tools on three things: price you can see, contract terms and fit for your size. Stitch Storage is one option for independent owners with 30 to 300 units: $39 to $99 a month, no contracts, and a free migration in 48 hours.

We make Stitch Storage, so read this page with that in mind. Every Cubby fact below comes from its own site, a press report or a review listing, dated as of October 2026. Where we could not confirm something, we say so.

Who uses Cubby, and why it is a good product

Cubby (cubbystorage.com) is a self storage platform founded in 2022 in New York. It covers facility management, e-commerce checkout, revenue management, a call center and AI voice agents, and reporting. It is private and venture backed: Fortune reported a $63 million Series A led by Growth Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives in January 2026. (Do not confuse it with the older Cubby file-sync product.)

It is aimed at individual owners through multi-facility operators and third-party managers; it cites 400+ operators and 2,000+ facilities. Its strengths are real:

  • Unified platform. Management, checkout, revenue management, calls and reporting from one company.
  • Scale. One client with 75 facilities, and a customer using it across 250 properties, per its site.
  • Funding. A $63 million Series A in January 2026, which suggests long-term investment in the product.
  • Integrations. Adverank, SafeLease, Swivl, XPS and Storagely, among others.
  • Hands-on onboarding. Its site says the company handles migration, configuration and training.

Why some owners look for an alternative

We list only reasons we can source, or that are neutral. Source: Cubby site and Fortune, October 2026.

  • No public prices. Cubby asks for a demo and shows no pricing.
  • Built for growth-stage operators. Its customer examples are large. A single small facility may not need AI call tools or revenue management.
  • Few public reviews. We found no rating on Capterra, G2 or Software Advice for the self storage product. Testimonials appear on a vendor-curated page.

What to look for in an alternative

  1. A published price, or a written quote with every fee itemized.
  2. Month-to-month terms.
  3. Online rentals, autopay and late fees that work without staff.
  4. Lien and auction timelines for your state.
  5. A free or low-cost migration, and a clear way to export your data later.
  6. Support that answers when your gate or payments break.

Our guide to choosing self storage software covers these in more depth.

Who Cubby fits

Cubby fits growing multi-facility operators and third-party managers who want AI, revenue management and call tools in one platform. Stitch is built for owners with 1 to 3 facilities and 30 to 300 units, and it is not the right fit for operators with hundreds of facilities or enterprise custom integrations.

Who should stay with Cubby

  • You run many facilities, or manage for others.
  • You want its AI call and revenue tools and have the volume to use them.
  • Your team is onboarded and satisfied.

How switching to Stitch works

If you run a small number of facilities and find Cubby is more than you need:

  1. Get your export from Cubby. Its site says the vendor handles migration; ask what comes out. Ask for a full export of units, tenants, leases, balances and payment history.
  2. Start a free trial. 30 days, no card.
  3. Upload with the generic spreadsheet preset. We map the columns for you.
  4. Read the validation report, then run a dry run. Nothing live changes.
  5. Go live, and roll back if something is wrong. Free, within 48 hours of a complete export.

Balances come in as "Opening balance" ledger entries. Stored card numbers do not carry over, so tenants re-enter a payment method. Details are on free migration and switch to Stitch. Compare plans on the pricing page and see the best self storage software roundup.

Move off Cubby for free

Send your export. We load your units, tenants, leases and balances in 48 hours, and you keep renting meanwhile.

30-day free trial. No card required. Free migration in 48 hours.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good alternative to Cubby?

It depends on your size and needs. For independent owners with 30 to 300 units, Stitch Storage publishes its prices, has no contracts and migrates your data free in 48 hours. Cubby may be the better fit if you are in this group: you run many facilities, or manage for others.

How much does Cubby cost?

We could not confirm a price on Cubby's own site as of October 2026. Ask for a written quote. Stitch publishes $39 to $99 a month.

Can I move from Cubby to Stitch Storage?

Yes. Migration is free and takes 48 hours from a complete export. Stitch does not have a preset built for Cubby, so we use the generic spreadsheet preset. You send Excel or CSV files and we map the columns. There is a dry run and rollback.

Will my tenants keep their autopay?

Stored card numbers generally cannot move between payment processors, so tenants usually re-enter a payment method. We tell you which tenants need to.
